Memories of Vladimir Leonovich Talmi is a document of an era reflecting the drama of the 20th century. The history of the author"s life and his family is closely intertwined with all historical events of that time. He lived for a long time (1924-2012) and a sophisticated life. Vladimir Leonovich was born and died in America, but most of his life was held in the USSR, where heavy trials of the Stalinist era had fallen out. Parents, American Communists, in 1931 came to Soviet Russia in order to take part in the construction of a new life, choosing how it seemed to them, the best fate for her son. In the life of Vladimir Leonovich, the USSR had a school, institute, war: front, injury, hospital, then the work of the translator in the Office of the Economic Directorate of the Soviet military administration in Germany, and then prison and almost eight years (1947-1955) Stalinist camps.
Father (Leon Yakovlevich), held in the case of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee, was shot in 1952. Mother (Sophia Abramovna) was sent to the settlement to Siberia. Vladimir Leonovich tells detail about it in his book, but what is striking the reader, this is a complete lack of fierce in the description of all the tests that have fallen out of the author. It remains only to pay tribute to the courage, the strength of the Spirit and the kindness of this light man. Vladimir Leonovich returned to America in 1980 - half a century after moving to the USSR. The last 32 years of his life were happy, filled with beloved work, communication with grandchildren, care for the family. The book of Vladimir Leonovich Talmi is not only a confession of a witness and a participant in historical events, it is a warning for new generations
