The text provides basic fundamental and new information on various types of fuel: energy, local, and alternative. It outlines methods of their classification, analyzes the physical-chemical, energy, operational, and environmental quality indicators. New fuel preparation methods are presented. The main principles of ignition and combustion theory are outlined: methods, ways, and conditions of rational combustion of different types of fuel in boiler furnaces and other fuel-burning devices are considered. The main principles of calculating the combustion processes of different types of fuel in boiler furnaces and methods of controlling the combustion process in relation to the basics of heat exchange are discussed. The results of author's research on water-oil emulsions and dispersed fuel systems that increase the efficiency of burning low-grade fuels are presented.
