To the attention of a wide range of readers, researchers presented a collection of documents, covering a relatively small historical period of the life of St. Petersburg - Leningrad. Total two years - 1944 and 1945. But these are special years, when the fate of the city was solved for many decades. War, the blockade has been catastrophically affected on all sides of the life of North Palmyra. The population of Leningrad declined almost six times: out of 3,119 thousand inhabitants, taken into account in 1939, on January 1, 1944 there were only 546 thousand people. Huge damage suffered urban economy.
It was terrible and at the same time, the blockade remained the performed heroism and extraordinary stability of the blockade in the past, Leningrad got the opportunity to sigh with complete breasts and together with the whole country, healing the terrible wounds, continuously increasing its contribution to the final defeat of fascism. And after him, he successfully continued the long and painful path to the consideration of the hardest damage caused to the population, economics, urban economy, cultural monuments. Contributed to the strengthening of the scientific, industrial, defense potential of the country. It seemed that it was impossible to get up with the mortal evidence. Leningraders proved that the impossible and incredible is possible and feasible.
A collection consists of two parts: The blockade is removed - on the way to victory "and" first steps in a peaceful life ". In the first part, the central place belongs to events related to the complete removal of the blockade of Leningrad, arising from it the subsequent steps, the development and implementation of the fundamental principles of post-war recovery and development of the city. In the second part of the publication, covering 1945, the palette of documents is significantly expanding, the policy of the authorities and the real recovery process, its mechanism and driving forces come to the fore.
