The book explores the relationships between Russia (Muscovy - Moscow Kingdom - Russian Empire) and the heirs of the Ulus of Jochi (Golden Horde). Various Turkic-Mongol states that emerged as a result of the disintegration of the Golden Horde existed for different periods: some lost their independence as early as the 16th century (Kazan and Astrakhan Khanates), while others lasted until the 18th-19th centuries (Crimean and Kazakh Khanates). Each of them had its own characteristics that significantly influenced their relations with the Russian state. Accordingly, the main focus of the monograph is on the specifics of these relationships, emphasizing the diversity of forms and directions of interaction, taking into account the peculiarities of the political, economic, and legal development of the Turkic-Mongol states, which ultimately ensured their incorporation into Russia.
The book is intended for historians of Russia, orientalists, specialists in the history of the domestic state and law, legal anthropology, and can also be useful for students studying these specialties.
