The book tells about the outstanding teachers of solo singing at the St. Petersburg Conservatory - Camillo Everardi, S. I. Gabel, I. S. Tomarse, and N. A. Iretskaya, whose activities contributed to the flourishing and wide recognition of the national vocal school at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The basis of the 4 chapters is extensive and little-studied materials, including unpublished ones, addressing issues of education, teaching methods for singers, opera practice, etc. For the first time, the path into pedagogy and the activities in Russia and abroad of one of the brightest representatives of the St. Petersburg school, A.
