The book tells about the outstanding teachers of solo singing at the Petersburg Conservatory: Camillo Everardi, S.I. Gabel, I.S. Tomars, and N.A. Iretskaya, whose activities led to the rise and widespread acceptance of the domestic vocal school at the turn of the XIX - XX centuries. The four chapters are based on extensive and little-studied (including unpublished) material, addressing education problems, methods of training singers, opera practice, etc. Also, for the first time, the pedagogical path and activities in Russia and abroad of A.D.
