The book consists of translations and research of church-poetic works of the Middle Ages. It includes both the texts of the East (the creations of the Ephraim of the Sirin, the novel of the sweet to the Sweeter, John Damascus, the anonymous hymns from Jadgar, etc), and the works of the West (hymns of Pruens, fragments from Heliand and Saxon Genesis) Translations were made from the Greek Byzantine, Latin, Syrian languages in a metric, close to the original.
