For 97 years, which I.Z. lived Serman, the world famous historian of Russian literature of the XVIII century, he repeatedly had to start life at first: after the Patriotic War, where he went to an ordinary soldier, after returning from Gulag, after the expulsion from Pushkin"s home and departure to Israel. But no life catastrophes could force a scientist not to engage in favorite business - the story of Russian literature. The results of scientific activity over three quarters of the century are partially reflected in the proposed collection, compiled by I.Z. Serman still in life. Along with the works of the influence of the elench style of Derzhavin on the poetry of Mayakovsky and Metamorphosis of the perception of Pieces of Fonvizin, we read about the literary interests of Peter the first, about the "Theater" of Sergey Dovlatov, about the struggle between Slavophiles and Wessengers and many other things.
