The long -standing ascetic work of employees of the State Historical Museum N. L. Zubova and M.V. Katagoshchina, published in two volumes, returns the names of about 20 thousand participants and heroes of the First World War, whose burial in Moscow, Soviet power was cynically destroyed. Based on the miraculously surviving archival documents, the authors-compilers restored the tragic history of the necropolis, determined the territory of the location of the cemetery, but most importantly, the names of Russian citizens, especially Muscovites who donated their lives in the name of the Fatherland in 1914-1918, returned from non-being. Braving information about the victims of the war, like a mosaic, develops into the collective portrait of the people and society, which showed the true greatness of the spirit in the face of the grave loss and trials. For the first time, data on foreigners, prisoners of war and volunteers buried in the fraternal cemetery are published.
