The book tells the story of the founders of the Moscow school for studying the Pashto language, which is widely known both in our country and beyond its borders, including in Afghanistan itself. P.B. Zudin, a translator for the Soviet Union in Kabul in the 1930s, studied Pashto directly in the Afghan linguistic environment and collected unique lexicographical material, which allowed him to compile the first "Concise Afghan-Russian Dictionary" (1950) and "Russian-Afghan Dictionary" (1955). M.G. Aslanov, who worked as a translator for the Soviet Union in Afghanistan for many years, compiled the most comprehensive to date fundamental "Afghan-Russian Dictionary" (1966). The traditions established by P.B. Zudin and M.G. Aslanov were preserved and developed by K.A. Lebedev, who became the head of the Moscow school for teaching Pashto, focused on practical language acquisition, which can rightfully be called the MGIMO school. For all those interested in Afghanistan and the Pashto language.
