The book aims to uncover the main driving forces and demonstrate the mechanism that gave rise to the sharpest post-Soviet international-political and military conflict between Russia and the West. Drawing on political economy and world-system analysis, the author seeks to show how the dominant forces in the modern world have formed a hierarchical structure of the global economy. This structure serves as the foundation for the modern system of international relations, including alliances between states and conflicts among them. The social structure of post-Soviet countries is then defined. Based on the proposed interpretation of the balance of power and interests of the ruling classes of the West, Ukraine, and Russia, the phenomenon of their rivalry on the world stage is explained. This allows for the identification of the systematic nature of the escalation of the struggle between the West and Russia, as well as the attempts by the US and Europe to use their control over Ukraine as a means to undermine our country's international positions. The phenomenon of purely dependent capitalism is then analyzed using the example of Ukraine. The Maidan phenomenon as an imitation of revolution is interpreted as the main cause of the national-liberation uprising in the Southeast. Russia's contradictory policy in this crisis is explained based on its semi-peripheral position in the world-system. In conclusion, some conclusions are drawn about the prospects of this conflict and the further development paths of Russia in the current conditions. The book is intended for political scientists, economists, historians, international relations specialists, and all those interested in Russia's current foreign policy position.
