The monograph reveals the scientific and pedagogical significance of the publications of the journal "Philological Notes," which stood at the cradle of domestic linguistics and pedagogy, an edition on the pages of which the heuristic methodology of intellectual and moral development called "Living Word" was formed. The study of the history of the appearance of the metaphor "living word" in the Russian literary language, presented by modern philologists as an ethnocultural constant of linguistic consciousness, resembles an investigation of a detective case about the dramatic fate of domestic comparative linguistics and Slavic studies. The reader will be able to recognize the Russian national and cultural code as originally Slavic in the light of mythological Indo-European and biblical heritage, expressed in state symbolism, against the background of the history and philosophy of language.
