The story of the Aliyev family's life at the intersection of two epochs of Russian history - Soviet and post-Soviet - was narrated by Ganifat Sadilakhova simply, lyrically, and very soulfully. Many interesting, sometimes unique features of the everyday life of people in that challenging time can be found in her memoirs. Looking back at the past, she still does not lose faith in the future. The head of the family, a scientist, defender, and poet Kaysedin Aliyev possessed a unique poetic gift. His selected poems are included in the book. Thanks to this selection, readers will gain a clearer understanding of some events that Ganifat Aliyeva remembers. For readers interested not only in the events of Russian history as a whole but also in the history of the Lezgin people.
