In the monograph, the processes of formation and propagation of shock waves are analyzed both in physically homogeneous inert media (gases, liquids, solids) and in reacting chemically active condensed media. Various physical phenomena are investigated, accompanying changes in the state of the substance at shock-wave loads. These experimental studies in the field of physical gas-dynamics and mechanics of high-speed deformation, the dynamics of the radiating gas and the physical characteristics of the initiation of explosive processes using laser radiation are systematized and described. Analyzed the contribution of various elementary processes in the development of nonequilibrium physicochemical transformations. There is a generalized view of modern experimental methods for research of fast-tracting processes and a forecast for the possibilities of using these methods to obtain information on physical processes accompanying shock-wave nonstationary phenomena.
