The book examines the process of transforming social relations in the communal society of Florence of the XIII-XIV centuries. And its special aspect is distinguished-the urbanization of the ancient clans of the feudal nobility, who moved to Florence (XI-XII) and adapted to a new way of life. The elevation of the Popolan layers, which achieved in the XIII century. Organizations on the territorial and administrative principle (1250), and then on corporate-facial (1282), caused the social struggle between the nobility and the people that led to the victory of the Popolans and the approval of the anti-Magnitan legislation-"establishments of justice" (1293), Which allowed the people to be at the top of the social hierarchy. However, the development of the main contradiction of Florentine society was accompanied by the phenomena of social synthesis. Representatives of an urbanized nobility were forced to join the senior workshops, create shopping and banking companies, uniting with Popolans in order to access the city’s management. Representatives of the people, trying to rise, became gentlemen, acquired in the city of Palazzo and towers, and in Contado - land possessions, perceived knightly rituals and forms of festive culture. In the field of mental attitudes, there was a synthesis of the values of a courteous culture and the moral-ethical complex of a "good merchant who opposing them.
