Evgeny Lvovich Schwartz (1896-1958) was a famous Russian prose writer, storyteller, playwright, and screenwriter. Some well-known Soviet films were based on Evgeny Schwartz's screenplays, such as 'Cinderella', 'The First Grader', and 'Don Quixote', as well as the premiere of the play 'An Ordinary Miracle'. The main character in the story 'The First Grader', Marusya, dreams of going to school. The girl is so eager to enroll in the first grade that she secretly runs away from home to submit her application. The lively and mischievous Marusya has yet to become a diligent and hardworking student. The book also includes stories by Evgeny Schwartz such as 'A Stranger's Girl', 'The Adventures of Shura and Marusya', and others. Suitable for younger school-age children.
