Earl Einar, in alliance with Earl Egil, embark on a raid into the land of the Rus, where the city of Holm stands, known by the Vikings as Holmgard. Einar is so confident in their success that he brings his eldest son and heir Anton along, almost without concern for his safety. However, taking Holmgard is not as easy as it seems, and a trusted friend can suddenly turn into a fierce enemy. As a result, Anton, caught in the middle and separated from his own people, becomes acquainted with the life and customs of the Rus much closer than he expected. Perhaps this story will be one of the reasons why a Viking will eventually lead the Ancient Russian state. How could this happen, considering that Vikings were considered raiders who only came to plunder? Where did the idea come from that the Rus could coexist with the Vikings for the greater good?
