This study considers the history of video art as a special form of screen art, consistently violating the rules and traditions developed in cinema and on television. Alexander Persheeva shows how, using installation, you can encounter not only images, but also whole discursive fields, how meanings arise at the junction of personnel, and when combining the screens, worlds are built. Each chapter is devoted to one of the types of installation. The history of the emergence and functioning of the installation in the screen culture, as well as the transformation of the usual methods of "mounting thinking", through the entire text through the entire text. The author pays special attention to the roles of the halls of the gallery, which, unlike the cinema, reveal the aesthetic capabilities of "spatial installation", as well as the role of the viewer, who in the video art field becomes the co -author of the artist. The work mentioned and analyzes more than 250 experimental films and videos, which can be interesting to both specialists and a wide range of lovers of modern art
