The man with a diamond hand. On the occasion of Leonid Gaidai"s 100th anniversary

The films of the leading Soviet comedographer Leonid Gaidai are a significant part of the cultural baggage of the entire late Soviet and large part of the post -Soviet societies. That is why it is so difficult to approach the work of the film director analytically: popular love, which endowed the paintings of Gaidai with a cult status and pulled out the remarks of his characters in quotes, for a long time prevented the originality of the author’s language language for a long time. The collection, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the director, is the first experience of a scientific approach to his heritage. The articles of Elena and Alexander Prokhorov, Mark Lipovetsky, Maria Mayofis, Ilya Kukulina and other famous cultural researchers open the unexpected aspects of Gaidai film dramaturgy: from satire to the foundations of Soviet society to psychological motivations of characters, from the non -humble sources of the funniest Soviet storage to the late creative stagnation. The authors read and comment on the legacy of Gaidai, turning to the cultural landmarks and the context of post -war, thaw, and then perestroika years that are relevant for its evolution. In the afterword for the collection, an essay on the famous colleague of Gaidai, director Evgeny Tsymbal, was published.
