The fragment of red. Former enemy of the time of the cold in Russian and American cinema 1990-2005

The book offers a political reading of Russian and American films of the Yeltsin era. She explores how, after the period of initial euphoria, the representative of the “partner” in Russian cinema and in Hollywood was still built on the old strategies of claims to national superiority. The focus is a close relationship between politics and cinema, as evidenced by the image in films released from 1990 to 2005, a former enemy of the Cold War. While the publicity and collapse of the Soviet Union opened the period of official cooperation, which soon grew in the declaration of partnership, the relationship gradually deteriorated, which led to new accusations of inflating the Cold War. The authors use an innovative transnational approach, analyzing the methods by which Russian and American films depict a former enemy
