Soviet films about the village: the experience of historical interpretation of the artistic image

The monograph is devoted to theoretical and methodological issues of studying Soviet art cinema as a unique source on the history of the Russian village in the 20th century. The problems of analysis and interpretation of audiovisual sources are considered, the history of Soviet cinema is disclosed in the context of approaches used by filmmakers to reflect Soviet reality, an analysis of the filming of the village was analyzed. Based on the use of methods of quantitative and qualitative analysis of the films of the Soviet period, a reconstruction of the main stories of rural history was carried out.
