The leading culturalist Vladimir Paperny, the author of the book “Culture Two ", and Maya Turovskaya, the famous film critic and co-author of the script of the documentary film“ Ordinary Fascism", in 2008 created a joint project dedicated to a comparative analysis of Soviet and American cinema in the 1930-1940s of the 20th century. After the death of Turovskaya in 2019, Paperny continued the study, expanding his chronological framework to the era of the thaw. A comparison of the two film tractions revealed amazing roll calls in the plots, cultural mythologies and even the construction of the frame. Comparing a "wizard from the country of Oz" with "Cinderella" or a "meeting on Elbe" with "Berlin Express", the authors come to important observations about how the similarity of social processes leaking in both countries gave birth to opposite ideological messages laid down in the compared paintings. A serious cultural analysis of the films of the United States and the USSR in the context of the dramatic era is combined in the book with memories of the fascinating cooperation of Vladimir Paperny and Maya Turovskaya
