Tarkovsky had a significant impact on the style of modern European cinema, especially slow cinema. His films are often interpreted, cited, they are looking for mystical prophecies about Chernobyl, the collapse of the USSR or about the impending apocalypse. Researcher Robert Bird offers a new view of the director’s work: in his opinion, Tarkovsky never set himself the tasks of imposing his own views to reality. On the contrary, his creative attitude was designed to capture reality along with all its unpredictability and unlimited possibilities. In his works, Tarkovsky did not orator - he looked closely and listened to the world, to his elements - and to the elements of cinema as a special way of cognition and expression. The book Andrei Tarkovsky: The Elements of the Cinema was first published in 2007 in English. For a Russian -speaking publication, she was re -edited and supplemented.
