Karavaev Dmitry Lvovich - filming, film critic, candidate of art history. Born in 1953 in Moscow. He has numerous publications on the history of cinema and the modern film process. In 2004, he was awarded the Awards of the Guild of film experts and film critics of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia as a compiler and one of the authors of the collection of articles “Alien among their own: globalization and intercultural diffusion in modern cinema”. This book was the result of the author’s many years of interest in the display of the realities of history and, more specifically, the events and heroes of the era of the Napoleonic wars on the film and television screen.
On the eve of the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812, the idea of forming a cohort of historical characters who left a noticeable mark in the dramatic confrontation of Russia and Napoleonic France seemed to form a cooqual of the Patriotic and even intriguing. As a result, it turned out that at different times, more than 150 Russians and foreigners, military and “state”, men and women, from the legendary Emperor Napoleon to anyone unknown Felddubel Zorin became the heroes of screen plots. The screen biographies of these people are compiled by the author on the material of almost 300 films created by filmmakers of 18 countries of the world
