The novel “We” by the Russian writer Evgeny Ivanovich Zamyatin (1884–1937) is one of the first anti -utopias in the world. This is not just a satire on what is happening in Russia in the 1920s, it is a model of relations between the totalitarian state and personality, order and chaos, regulation and creativity, mind and feelings. A strict routine of life, the same form of clothing, “number” instead of names, equalizing all people, their thoughts and feelings - this is life in the distant future. But is it possible to limit the freedom of a thinking and feeling person?
The collection also includes the story “County”, in which the author discusses the problems of the provincial hinterland, the “English” story “Islanders” and selected stories.
For the elder school age
