The action of the novel by the famous Polish writer V. Reimont (Poland was then part of the Russian Empire) "Vampire" takes place in London in the mid -19th century. The then fashionable teaching of occultism covers the highest circles of society. The author immerses us in the gloomy atmosphere of secular spirituality salons, where strange and, often terrible events occur. The main character, whose medium nature is very susceptible to mystical influences, is torn between his many fans. One of them, the fatal red-haired beauty-spatanist, destroys the usual course of his life. Will the hero of the forces have enough to break the vicious circle of random ties and stop the destructive effect of this vampire woman on herself and her loved ones?
