The path to the threshold

Centuries and centuries ago, a great war died out. Where the streams of blood absorbed the scorched earth, the kingdoms of people rose. And the world reigned. Dwarves in the underground workshops smoke metal, improving their eternal craft, in deserted wastelands, wild ogra hunt sand wolves, and in secret forest dummy the ancient knowledge of the high people keep. But there are places where the usual world gives cracks, and these cracks bleed the hordes of creatures from other, alien worlds that do not have the name in human languages. These terrible places are called - thresholds. They have always been, these thresholds. And there were always those who sacredly fulfilled the duty, protecting a person from the creature.
