The fact that the best, reference sample of domestic fiction-the “hail” of the Strugatsky brothers-was conceived back in the late 60s, and completed in 1972-hard to believe, too amazing, impossible for those times the degree of internal freedom this novel. So they didn’t even write “on the table” ... This seemed incredible. However, the whole incredible, almost detective story of the fate of the “City of the Doomed”, presented in “Comments” to the novel, makes us believe - it was exactly so. And reading the novel from this is only more interesting!
