A quiet town in the mountains of Southern California. The freshman returns to the hostel after a stormy party, falls asleep - and does not wake up. While the bewildered doctors are fighting over the mystery, the disease is rapidly spreading, and now the whole city is covered with panic, the number of victims is growing, products end in stores. The authorities declare quarantine, the streets are flooded with soldiers of the National Guard.
