“Monday begins on Saturday” and “The Tale of the Troika”, barely going out of the press, gained a cult status, even among readers indifferent to science fiction. And could it be otherwise? Talking scientist Cat and space alien, Baba Yaga and a snowy man, genetic engineering and brownies, demons and time travel-a cheerful jerk served as an excellent nutrient medium both for an adventurous adjective plot, and for a satirical image of bureaucratic slingshots that stand in the way of young Wizards - employees of the Research Institute. Fragments of the stories of the Strugatsky brothers dispersed to quotes, became sayings, and the brightest characters - honest and good -natured privileges, a straightforward rude Korneev, a rogue of a bastard and many others entered the cultural fund of each reading person. In many ways, the success of the stories was facilitated by the illustrations of Evgeny Migunov, who accompanied the first edition of Monday (1965)
