But in this synthetic and sterile world there is no place for feelings. Children over five years old are separated from their parents and handed over to smart home systems - Hausers. They care not only about physical, but also about the emotional well -being of wards with the help of food additives, energy and tranquilizers. Thanks to the continuous control and exclusion of irrational practices from the life of children and adolescents, society managed to significantly accelerate growing up, children reach the first age of age of ten years old, and by the time of graduation, they become prevailing specialists in the chosen profession.
Fifteen-year-old Ivan (in a new Juvan), hiding his true goal, collects an educational expedition from several acquaintances and on an all-terrain vehicle goes to study the reserve zone of Pleshcheyev Lake. But the ultramodern equipment of adolescents does not withstand the onslaught of the elements. Deprived of control and medical support, adolescents experience the unknown feelings: fear, sadness, shame, jealousy and love. Anti -Utopia "Grandfather" was included in the long list of the Booker contest in 2021.
