After a nuclear war, the earth turned into a desert covered with radioactive dust. Animals are dying out, people emigrate in extraterrestrial colonies. The remaining erasers a miserable existence in the destructive cities. Police officer Rick Descartes receives the task of finding and destroying a group of Androids who escaped from an external colony to Earth. But gradually, Rick begins to ask the question: are androids really differ from people? And where does the border that share them runs?
The novel was nominated for the Nebulus Award and was filmed by Ridley Scott in 1982.
