In the spring of 196 BC, six of our contemporaries, together with their Spanish colleagues, are transferred for further service from Spain to Carthage. This city is large and by ancient standards comfortable if the wallet is not empty. But in it, our fellow priests only dream of peace. Not wanting it themselves, friends almost immediately find themselves in the thick of local intrigues.
Carthage Phoenicians, Rhodes Greeks, Egyptians - a snake ball would hardly be more dangerous. But our fellow people are no longer green newcomers in the ancient world. Their knowledge and experience gained in Spain help them not only to survive, but also with honor to complete the difficult task of the employer.
But “live to live, but to make good” is quietly and calmly for anyone.
Carthagin Also seething. It encounters the interests of the opposing oligarchic groups, and friends do not sit away from them, since their employer is also a simple Carthaginian oligarch
