Sometimes life radically changes in seconds - and no longer returns to the previous direction. This happened with Yana-Berthu, when the lessons at school were suddenly canceled, and the students were ordered to be urgently evacuated. At the nuclear power plant in Grafenrainfeld - several tens of kilometers from the native slot and very next to Schweinfurt, where the parents left! - There was an accident, and the radioactive cloud will be here in a couple of hours. Yanna -Berta and his younger brother street rush to bicycles and rush away from the city - like hundreds of other families. Having gone through vanity and panic, through tragic accidents and situations of personal choice, through hospitals and other people"s houses, Yanna -Bert will return to his homeland with a completely different person - who has matured and ready to defend his right to life.
most of all I wanted to illustrate the possible consequences of the incident on the reactor and warn the readers about them, ”Gudrun Pausvang explained why she decided to write the story "Cloud". To sit down at the table and create this text forced it from Chernobyl in 1986 - and the book was released in Germany a year after the disaster. Later, it was translated into English and other languages, becoming genuine teenage classics, and in 2006 it was filmed: the picture of Gregor Schnitzler "Cloud" of the jury recognized the best film for the youth at the festival in Bavaria.
The story told by the German writer is the truth and the fiction of one temporarily. No matter how frightening the described events may look, they can become a reality. The intolerance of people who escaped disaster can be a reality to the victims, and the irresponsibility of the authorities has already become: arguing about the benefits of nuclear power plants, politicians and industrialists are silent about the risks with which the atomic energy is associated. The tale of the “cloud” prelimination is designed for adolescents, but even adult readers touch the courage and frankness of the author.
A few words about the book
In the center of the story "Cloud"-14-year-old Yanna-Berth, whose life has forever changed on the day when the lessons at school were canceled, and the students were ordered to be urgently evacuated. There was an accident at the nuclear power plant in Grafenrainfeld, and these are a few tens of kilometers from the slot, where Yanna-Berta lives. Worse, this is very close to Schweinfurt, where parents left for a couple of days. There is no time to think and even panic - the girl collects things and, together with his younger brother, rushes on a bicycle away from a radioactive cloud driven by a wind in a slot.
The German writer Gudrun Pausing does not spare the reader and does not make “age” concessions for him - though he emphasizes: the book is not for children, but for adolescents, at least the peers of the main character. There are many deaths and grief, a lot of naive and unpleasant characters - a nuclear disaster in a densely populated center of Europe destroys both the economy and social ties, dividing people into those whom the tragedy has passed and victims of radiation. The former, as a rule, refuse to help, preferring not to see troubles and at least somehow adapt to a new life, in which mutilated Germany is very far from prosperity.
Despite the harsh realism of the story, it can be recommended to fans of science fiction and anti-utopias: the genre of the Drama-prelimination, of course, suggests a number of assumptions and speculations that someone will consider completely impossible. But the danger that they are possible, says Gudrun Pausewing. In order to write this story, she studied many publications dedicated to radiation illness and the possible consequences of accidents at nuclear power plants, so the fictional plot has, in fact, a documentary basis.

It turned out not at all a children"s post -apocalyptic drama, touching the tears and allowing several talented actors to open. The book, as usual, is even stronger than the film - its professional translation into Russian is first published in the publishing house "KOMAPAGID".
