The incredible story of the preacher and his young student, Saama Yussi boy. The summer of 1852, a deaf village in the very north of Sweden. Yussi escaped from the house where he starved and suffered from beatings. Soon he will have to compose a company to a scientist to Lestadius in his botanical expeditions, during which their duet of the teacher and student will form. The preacher will teach Yussi to distinguish between plants, read and write, as well as love and be afraid of God. Lestadius carries the word of God Samam-pagan. But once a fascination with botanical will push Pastor and Yussi on a completely unexpected path. On a remote farm, the maid disappeared - did not return from the forest where cows grazed. Where, it disappeared, traces of bear claws were found on the trunks of trees. Everyone is sure that the girl was lifted up by a nobody bear. And only the preacher doubts. Thus begins the investigation conducted by the pastor Lestadius and the Saam boy (unexpected literary reincarnation of the pair Holmes-Vatson) The fascinating detective intrigue is built into an equally exciting historical novel, and all this is presented with a warm, slightly ironic intonation. It is also interesting that Lars Levy Lestadius is a real historical face, a man who, throughout his life, spent among the Sami and, in fact, converted them to Christianity.
