A boy named the throne grows without father and mother. The GDU chosen for the service of the bird -headed God, he is brought up in the temple and, like all of its inhabitants, performs endless hymns every day and performs countless rituals. The whole life of the young priest is painted in advance, and it is impossible for him to evade the wounded order of things.
But once the throne is decided on the act is almost unthinkable. Not fully understanding what was moving to them, he breaks one of the most important rituals - the sacrifice of the blue hawk. The boy could not even imagine what consequences would entail the salvation of the bird and what it would turn out for him, for the temple and for the whole kingdom. Ahead of the throne await flight, captivity and liberation, a meeting with the king and a terrible journey along the Great River - to where the generation and generation of local rulers invariably complete their path.
The English writer Peter Dikinson (1927-2015), the owner of two medals of Carnegie, is known in our country mainly from the novel "Ropenser", but his work is much more extensive and more diverse. The Blue Hawk is among its best books, in 1977 the novel was awarded the Gardian Award, awarded for works for children and adolescents.
