On July 20, 1941, the Wehrmacht tank groups, breaking through the Stalin line, were surrounded in front of the rear defensive line on the West Dvina -Dnipro line under the cities of Pyarn and Kyiv and defeated. The main battles unfolded in the Baltic states, where thousands of soldiers from both sides were killed for each town. In autumn and winter, the crowding out of German troops from Soviet territory began.
