The publication is a beautifully illustrated practical guide to fetal heart ultrasound scanning. The book is written by fetal cardiologists with over 30 years of practical experience and contains around 850 echocardiograms, photographs of anatomical specimens, and diagrams. The reader will learn about the basic principles of echocardiography and how to obtain standard ultrasound images. The guide describes almost all congenital heart defects that can be diagnosed in a fetus, as well as the treatment of fetal arrhythmias and the conduct of screening ultrasound examinations in the first trimester of pregnancy. A separate chapter is dedicated to reviewing the possible outcomes of each of the congenital heart defects. The data is based on a study of nearly 4000 fetuses with heart anomalies.
