The main stages of cutting mode calculations are considered, showing their primary role in material processing. The selection of cutting tools is carried out taking into account the main design features of the processed material. A system for increasing the durability of cutting tools during material processing on an automatic lathe machine Index C29 has been developed, presented as a solution to a complex of tasks related to the study of phenomena occurring during cutting and changing the main factors that significantly affect the durability of cutting tools. A methodology for selecting rational cutting modes has been developed and justified. The process of processing parts made of steel on CNC lathes is disclosed. A method and technique for improving the quality of the finished product are described.
