In the book A.V. Mikhailov includes articles, translations and reviews that appear in various collections, anthologies and magazines over the years, as well as those who have not published previously texts (about fifth part of the total).
All works contain a detailed analysis of literary, musical and philosophical works. In all articles we are talking about the typology of Austrian culture and its deep peculiarity. For the first time in the history of Russian philology, a holistic and, at the same time, an extremely concrete look at the Austrian culture and its self-expression. It is important to note that the work of A.V. Mikhailov is devoted to both the central and secondary figures of the cultural life of Austria. Tom opens with essays of the history of the Austrian literature of the XVII-XX centuries, written for the "History of World Literature". Translations of A.V. Mikhailov (almost all of them performed for the first time) allow us to judge as the adequacy of its research approach, and its reviews - to trace the history of the development of Austrian culture in Russia
