The novel "The Favorite" is a multi-layered work in which a vast layer of historical reality is raised, providing a broad canvas of life in Russia in the second half of the 18th century. The author portrays the era through the actions of the main character - the most illustrious Prince Grigory Alexandrovich Potemkin-Tavrichesky, the favorite of Catherine II - a complex, largely contradictory, but undoubtedly talented and intelligent person who decisively intervened in state affairs and saw his duty in serving Russia.
