Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev (1818-1883) was a great Russian writer and poet, publicist and playwright, a classic of Russian literature of the 19th century. He wrote six novels, numerous short stories and tales, articles, plays, and poems. The main character of the novel "Fathers and Sons" is the young aspiring doctor, Yevgeny Bazarov. A militant democrat and nihilist, a representative of the younger generation, he does not recognize authorities and denies the traditional human values that are dear to the "fathers." He is an endlessly vivid character, whose drama lies in internal contradictions and the realization of his supposed insignificance. A passionate rebel, he desperately wants to love and be loved, but he runs away from this feeling, considering it a relic of the past.
