Having originated in the era of Stalinism, this phenomenon lasted until the end of the 1980s in the Soviet Union and in a number of Eastern European countries, which were part of the social blister. For all its exclusivity, this was by no means that fundamentally new style, about which constructivists dreamed in the early 1920s. On the contrary, the socialist fashion has officially focused on traditional aesthetics and served conservative tender stereotypes. Bartlett traces the history of the phenomenon - from its origin in the era of the collapse of the Bolshevik utopian dream to the heyday in the Eastern European countries with the advent of the Communists to power in 1948 and the gradual sunset in the last decades of the existence of the socialist system.
