On Saturday morning, there is a hustle and bustle at the "Green Meadow" farm. The fruit orchard is in full swing with the harvest being collected. Boxes of fresh cherries, raspberries, and currants are immediately loaded into the bed of the farm truck. At the neighboring cheese factory, cheese heads are being loaded into a bright red van. The owners of the poultry farm are loading chicken eggs and packages of homemade noodles into their yellow car. A green truck is parked near the greenhouses – it already has boxes of fresh vegetables inside. Once all preparations are complete, the vehicles line up one after another and set off in a colorful procession. Where are they headed?
The farmers are hurrying to the main city square to make it in time for the opening of the weekend market. There, they are awaited by regular customers who come every week for fresh and environmentally friendly vegetables, fruits, and other locally produced goods. On the way, the farmers stop by a large supermarket to sell some of their products there.
At the city square, the cargo vans transform into wheeled stalls – very convenient. And here come the first customers. They come to the market with their whole families. While the parents choose products and chat with the sellers, the children play by the fountain and interact with the sheep in the petting zoo set up by farmer Bruno.
This book is not only an exciting tour of the farm with visits to the cheese factory, sheep pen, poultry farm, greenhouses, and fruit orchards, but also a story of how delicious and nutritious products from local producers make their way to city markets and supermarkets.
