The Wizard of the Emerald City. Urfin Jus and his wooden soldiers

Alexander Melentievich Volkov was a mathematician and did not even think to become a writer, but he had to. Once he had a book by L.F. Baum “The Wizard of the Lake Country”. The story turned out to be so exciting that A. Volkov decided to translate it for Soviet children. He began to translate, but in the end he retold. So the girl Ellie, a good -natured scarecrow, an iron lumberjack, a brave lion and other heroes were born. Wizard of the Emerald City.
The book liked the book so much that they wrote many letters to A. Volkov with a request to tell the continuation of the story about the brave Elia and her friends. So the cycle of books “The Wizard of the Emerald City”, consisting of six stories, appeared.
Our book included two fabulous novels: “The Wizard of the Emerald City” and “Urfin Gius and his wooden soldiers”.
The works are included in the school reading program.
