Tale of Tsar Saltan

Here is one of the tales of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin - "Tale of King Saltan", the illustrations for which was performed by the wonderful Russian artist Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin (1876-1942).
Bilibin"s passionate enthusiasm for ancient Russian art was reflected in his illustrations for Pushkin"s fairy tales: to the "Tale of King Saltan", "Tale of Golden Cockerel", "Tale of Fisherman and Fish". The Bilibinsky style is characterized by the beauty of the patterned pattern and the exquisite decorativeness of color combinations. The first of the Pushkin cycle, the artist illustrated the Tale of King Saltan. With her multi -color paintings of ancient Russian life, she gave a rich food of Bilibin"s fantasy. The artist hoped that "... under the influence of a passion for the past beauty ... finally a new Russian style would create, quite individual and not tinsel.
