Before you is the 2nd, the fixed and supplemented publication of the first book in Russian, dedicated to the tradition almost unknown in our country-Pennsylvanian folk magic Pau-Wau-as well as its relationships with European witchcraft and legendarium G.F. Lovecraft. Its author is a Russian Freemason, occultist, poet and public figure, member of the international occult orders O.T.O. and A.P.R.M.M., Creator and editor of the popular science magazine Apocrypha Roman Adrianov, better known under his initiative name Fr. Nyarlathotep OTIS. The book is richly equipped with translations of primary sources dedicated to the described traditions and events (including those who did not enter the first edition), and the mistakes and typos of the previous edition are carefully corrected.
The first part of the book (Ancient History of the World) is devoted to the personality and work of Benjamino Evandzhelists (Benny Evangelist), a folk healer who was cruelly killed in 1929 in Detroit. In it, the genuine biography of evangles is thoroughly compared with its image in the myths of Ktulhu. The newspaper publications of those years devoted to the investigation of his murder, as well as part of his book “Ancient History of the World,
Occult science in Detroit, Michigan”, supplemented by newly translated fragments absent in the past edition, are given as textual illustrations.
In the second part (long-lost friend) it is told about the traditional witchcraft of Pennsylvania-folk magic of Pau-Wau. On the basis of domestic and foreign sources (including published for the first time in this publication), the history, doctrine and practice of the witching tradition of the Pennsylvanian Dutch, as well as parallels between the tragedy in Detroit and the preceding murder of the Pennsylvanian sorcerer
Nelson Remeyer are carried out in detail. The main grimoire of tradition-“a long-lost friend (a collection of mysterious and invaluable arts and medicines for people, as well as for animals, with many evidence)”-describes in detail the medical and witchcraft features of PAU-WAU.
The third part (Secret Books of Moses) describes some other connections of the mythology of Lovecraft and Pow-Wau folk magic. In it, in particular, the grimoirs are published, used in the folk magic of Pennsylvania and at the same time mentioned in the myths of Kthulhu - the sixth, seventh and
eighth books of Moses (the latter is one of the famous Greek magical papyrus) Finally, the fourth part (Red Book of Appin) is devoted to the same magical treatise. It is convincing that, despite the proximity of the European make -up tradition, the red book of Appin, published by A.M.C. Vendetta in the early 2000s is a modern remake.
It also tells about the actually existing book, which, apparently, was one of the witchcrafts of Scotland and has much in common with the methods set forth in the Pennsylvanian Grimoar long-lost friend.
In the conclusion, a detailed thesis comparison of the considered sources - views and practitioners of Benjamino Evandleists, witchcraft traditions of Pennsylvania, secret books of Moses and the Red Book of Appin - with legendarium of Lovecraft was carried out
