John Ronald Ruel Tolkien (01/03/1892-2.09.1973) -
writer, poet, philologist, professor of Oxford University, ancestor of modern fantasy.
In 1937, the “hobbit” was written, and in the mid-1950s they saw
the light of three books “The Lord of the Rings”, telling about the Middle-earth-a world inhabited by representatives of magical races with complex culture, history and mythology In the following years, these novels were translated into all world languages, adapted for cinema, animations, audiopius, theater, computer games, comics and gave rise to a lot of imitations and parodies.
Alan Lee (b. 08/20/1947)-illustrator artist dozens of books in the fantasy genre. The most fame was acquired by his covers and illustrations for the works of John R. R. Tolkin: “Hobbit”, “Lord of the Rings”, “Children of Khurin”. Mervin Peak, a cycle of medieval Welsh novels, Mabinogion, also illustrated the Gormengast trilogy and much more
