Since the fairy -tale story “The Golden Key” of the Scottish writer and priest George McDonald (1824-1905) for the first time saw the light in 1860 as part of his collection of stories “Dealing with the Fairies”, it was published in different versions of a separate book illustrated Both completely and partially. However, for the first time, the metaphysical foundations of this fairy tale, which included in the Golden Fund of British Children"s Literature, are transmitted as well as in this publication. Thanks to drawings in the Scretchboard technique, the illustrator Ruf Sanderson managed to masterfully embody the exciting imagery of light and shadow, so significant for this story.
