Banzarov Dorji (1822-1855), orientalist, Buryat scientist-East-Opera, Buddhist, belonged to the ancient genus Uryanhei. In his article "Black Vera" D. Banzarov made a detailed description of the ancient religion of the Mongols, outlined the views of the Buryat Gentiles of the 19th century. He provided his work with a large number of brilliant historical excursions and concluded in conclusion: "The so-called Shaman religion, at least among the Mongols, could not come from Buddhism or any faith. According to the description of Banzarov, the black faith consists in veneration of the sky, earth, fire, secondary gods - Tengri, and ongons, the souls of dead people. The role of the shaman, according to Banzarov, is that he is "a priest, a doctor and a sovereign or a fortuneteller." The editor also included the articles of D. Banzarov, dedicated to the history of the Mongol and Buryat peoples.
